Meet the Author

Larry Caylor served forty years as a pastor in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church in Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, where he pastored mostly rural and small-town churches. As a committed servant, he receives his greatest joy from telling and writing stories to and for children of all ages. Through his stories, Caylor seeks to instill confidence and a positive self-image in children, in the hope that as they grow older, they will make their communities stronger and healthier. Concerned about the state of public education, he offers one suggestion: a good teacher must strive to be a good storyteller.

Caylor is the author of Tell It Again, a collection of poetry, musings, and children’s stories.

“Larry Caylor has spent years crafting tales for children, young and old, to make those who listen, laugh a little and walk away inspired to do better and be better. His stories always hint at truths in our everyday lives and provide insight into how to treat one another. Silly Dog and a Cat is a treasured story by ‘Preacher Larry,’ and will help each of us reflect on our relationships with our belongings and with each other.”
