Meet the Author
Pat was born in Brooklyn and married a Virginian, and claimed she was still adjusting to the ways of living in the South. When she was fifty-three, she finally graduated from college, but before that, she had acquired a Coast Guard license to captain boats of fifty tons or less, and with a friend, produced a syndicated newspaper column on flower arranging. She spent ten years as a freelance writer for Richmond and Virginia publications. After retiring to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, she served as a hospice volunteer, working with patients and their families in three counties. She was the mother of three, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of three. She and her tail-less cat (Bob) lived within sight of the Piankatank River in tidewater Virginia.
