Meet the Author/Illustrator

Ted Simonin, originally from Niagara Falls, New York, attended the University of Buffalo and finished with a master’s in English. After graduation, Ted moved to the south of France, where he devoted himself to a daily routine of drawing, painting, and writing. His surroundings, coupled with a great discipline to create, inspired him to develop his unique style of illustrating and storytelling. Ted’s work has been featured in Highlights and appeared in a literary journal for the Bob Dylan Music Festival, and his lighthearted character Baxter has been applauded by young readers across the country. Ted is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators and now lives with his family of four in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Praise

“In 2005, I received a note from legendary novelist Ray Bradbury, who took the time to write, ‘. . . Ted’s work is excellent.’ When young readers discover Baxter, I am certain they will feel the same.” ~ Richard Aquan, Senior Art Director at HarperCollins Publishers

“My students love this book! I really enjoy seeing the excitement and anticipation on their faces as they wait to see what Baxter will do next.” ~ Pamela Bianca, teacher

“Kids will love sharing in this joyful romp across the country with Baxter and his friends. The bright colors and swooping shapes add to the fun. B for Baxter offers a heartwarming reminder that families come in all shapes and sizes.” ~ Marileta Robinson, former editor at Highlights
